Italy city council candidate Quentin Dean Little wants the city's social media policy rescinded, arguing that restrictions on councilmembers posting about city business amount to "policies to keep people quiet."
Little is a lifelong Italy resident who has organized community festivals since 2020, when he and a group of citizens stepped in to run a Christmas festival after the city pulled back due to COVID. In his written responses to the 2026 Candidate Questionnaire, he lays out a transparency-first platform, calls for the city to return to running its own trash service and road work, and commits to meeting with any resident who brings him an issue.
The questionnaire was published by Watchtower in February 2026 and offered to every candidate filing for city council in communities we cover. The nine questions are the same for every candidate. Little submitted his answers by email in response to that invitation.
1. I'm New to the Community. Tell Me About Yourself.
My name is Quentin Dean Little, I'm a lifelong resident. I've been around and seen a lot of things happen. I love being a part of this community, I'm a big supporter of law enforcement and our public works crew. I often have spoken out against the city for certain things they have allowed. In 2020 myself and a team of citizens organized a Christmas Festival in lieu of the city backing out due to COVID. I've since thrown many festivals in Italy Texas just to give the citizens something to do.
2. What Inspired You to Run for Office?
I was inspired to run for office when I started noticing the city wasn't self sustaining anymore, growing up the city ran their own trash service, fixed their own roads, and kept Italy noticeable. I wanted to bring the self sustaining situation back to Italy, along with making sure the city was operating properly.
3. What Is the Most Important Issue Facing Italy Today?
The most important issue facing the city is TRANSPARENCY, lacking transparency means lacking accountability. If no accountability is pursued then administrations end up doing things that aren't known to citizens.
4. How Do You Feel About the Way City Leadership Communicates With the Community?
Communication is of the utmost importance between cities and citizens. Italy Texas has not been very communicative when it comes to anything. The only thing the city has made sure to communicate is water leaks. That's it nothing else is advertised.
5. Should Elected Officials Be Able to Communicate Openly With Residents on Social Media?
Social Media policies are something that needs to be navigated carefully, I understand the need to stop a walking quorum, however there are citizens that aren't able to have a face to face, or a telephone conversation, some people rely solely on social media for updates about certain things going on with their community. I would ask that a social media policy be rescinded because at the end of the day if it's not posted in a public forum owned and operated by said city, then at that point it just becomes a violation of rights, if said councilmember is providing factual updates where is the harm. Social media policies are just policies to keep people quiet!
6. How Will You Make Sure Taxpayers Feel Heard Beyond the Election Cycle?
ANY taxpayer will be able to come to me with any issue I will do whatever I can to make sure their concerns are heard and dealt with to the best of my ability. I will refuse no one. I will listen to the whole population of Italy one at a time if need be. They voted me in I work for them.
7. How Familiar Are You With the City's Budget, and How Will You Keep Italy Financially Healthy?
The cities budget needs to reflect that of a small community, not that of big one. The budget need to be able to cover the cities bills and salaries. We need to save where we can and only spend when necessary.
8. How Should Italy's EDC Be Operating, and What Role Should the Council Play?
The EDC is responsible for bringing business to the community, I believe the EDC should always do what can be done to fulfill their mission.
9. Audience Members Are Upset With How You Voted. What Do You Say to Bring the Room Together?
I'm aware that some aren't happy with my votes, please understand that I don't vote without the facts, evidence, and anything else needed to persuade me. I vote with my mind and my heart with each one of you in mind. We aren't always going to agree but I am going to make sure that your needs are heard, you get factual answers, and you don't carry the burden of this city making mistakes.
Closing Statement From the Candidate
Little closed his questionnaire with a direct message to Italy voters:
I want to say thank you for the opportunity to represent such an amazing community, I can tell you I'm going to work hard to make sure your city is transparent with you, that my votes are made with precision, accuracy, thoughtfulness, and research.
