Cameron Geddie Is Out at Italy PD. Does the Department Train Its Officers on Harassment?

Cameron Geddie's state record now ends his Italy Police Department service on October 28, weeks after a resident's complaint named him in harassment allegations that remain unconfirmed. His training record, like the Chief's, carries no harassment course.

Table of Contents

On October 10, Cameron Geddie's state licensing record showed his Italy Police Department service running through "Today." It now ends that service on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.[1][2] He had been with the department since December 2022.

Shelby Browning, ITXN's president, told me on October 30 that he was gone.[3] A source familiar with the department said:[4]

"Geddie is no longer with the department and it wasn't his decision."

The state record shows the date his appointment ended. It does not say why, and I have not independently confirmed the reason he left.

What Is Still Unconfirmed

On October 6, an Italy resident sent me a written complaint relaying what a sheriff's deputy had told them: that an Italy PD supervisor was making sexual harassment remarks toward a rookie female officer. When the resident named Geddie, the deputy nodded. I published the complaint on October 11 with a warning that none of it had been corroborated.[5]

On October 15, the department said it had received a complaint "from an outside source" on September 14, had been "actively investigating" since, and had placed "the employee who is the subject of the allegation" on administrative leave.[6] It did not name the employee, and it said the allegation "should not be considered a finding of misconduct."

Those allegations remain unconfirmed. I have not seen a finding, a report or a charge, and nothing I have connects Geddie's departure to them. What I can confirm is the order of events: the allegations reached the public between October 8 and October 11, and his service ended October 28.

Is his departure connected to the investigation the department announced? Has that investigation finished, and what did it find?

The Training Records

TCOLE, the state agency that licenses Texas officers, does not require harassment training for city police officers or their supervisors.[7] It does keep a general course number for it, #3910 "Sexual Harassment Recognition," which any department can use to report its own training with no contract.[8] Italy PD already reports in-house training to TCOLE under its own name. Since August it has reported FEMA incident command courses that way for two officers.

I pulled the state training records of all nine officers Italy PD employed as of October 30, plus Geddie's, which runs through October 28. That makes ten.[9][2]

What the ten records showOfficers
Have no harassment course at all5 of 10, including the Chief and Geddie
Have a harassment course anywhere in their careers5 of 10
Took one while working for Italy PD1 of 10 (an online course in 2020)
Harassment courses Italy PD reported itself0

What I counted as a harassment course: TCOLE's #3910 "Sexual Harassment Recognition" and #2027 "Sex Crimes/Sexual Harassment," and vendor courses titled for sexual or workplace harassment. Courses on investigating sexual assault cover criminal cases, so I left them out. The #2027 title covers sex crimes as well as harassment, so it is a loose fit. One officer's only course is a #2027 from 2013, and without it the count becomes 6 of 10 with no harassment course.

These figures describe these ten officers' records, which cover careers and stretches at Italy of very different lengths, and they reflect only the training reported to the state.

Start with the Chief. Chad Nelson has no harassment course, across a record that goes back to 1995 and 11 agencies.[10] Sgt. Timothy Collums has four, all from his year at Red Oak PD, the first one week after he started there.[11] Geddie, whose record includes the New Supervisor's Course in 2023 and field training officer training in 2024, had none in 1,579 hours of courses.[2]

The harassment training Italy's officers do have mostly came with them from other departments. Nine of the ten have none from their time at Italy.

A department can train in-house and never report it, so a blank record does not prove an officer was never trained. It does raise the question. Does Italy PD train its officers and supervisors on harassment? If it does, why does none of that training appear on their state records?
